The Hanen Program ® for parents of children with language delays
The Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk program is specifically designed for the families of young children (ages up to five years) with language delay. In a small, personalised group setting, families learn practical strategies to support their children to learn communication skills naturally throughout their day. It is delivered by a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist.

About the program
The Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk program is a family focused intervention. The focus is on building language skills in play and everyday activities by empowering families to be the therapist at home.
The program consists of eight group sessions and four individual sessions. The child must attend the individual sessions, while the group sessions are adult based.
What families learn:
- How and why children communicate
- How to support turn talking and social communication skills
- How to extend their current skills
- How to use what motivates your child to enhance their communication every day
- How to turn everyday activities into language rich opportunities for children to learn
